When Emerson College students cross Boylston Street and head toward the Boston Common, they enter Massachusetts’ 8th congressional district. Congressman Stephen Lynch, who represents the 8th district, has served on Capitol Hill for nearly 25 years. But this year, he has competition.
Patrick Roath, a Jamaica Plain-based attorney, is challenging Lynch in the district’s Sept. 1 Democratic primary. In an interview with The Beacon, Roath said that more ‘urgency and passion’ are needed from the district’s representative on Capitol Hill to combat the “extremism of the MAGA movement.”
