Jobs & Economic Opportunity

America’s economy should work for working people, not just those at the top. I will champion an opportunity economy where everyone has a chance to compete and succeed. I’ll fight to cut taxes for more than 100 million working and middle-class Americans by expanding the Child Tax and Earned Income Tax Credits, while ensuring the wealthiest Americans and largest corporations pay their fair share. I’ll support investments in American manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy that create good-paying jobs with family-sustaining wages and benefits. By removing barriers to opportunity and investing in communities that have been left behind, we can build a future where hard work is rewarded, and the middle class thrives.

Organized Labor. When unions are strong, America is strong. I’ll be a fierce advocate for workers’ right to organize and will fight to pass the PRO Act to protect workers who choose to form unions. I support eliminating barriers to union organizing, cracking down on illegal anti-union activity by employers, and strengthening protections for workers facing retaliation. I strongly support raising the cripplingly meager federal minimum wage. By strengthening workers’ voices on the job, we can ensure that economic growth translates to better wages, safer workplaces, and improved quality of life for all Americans.

Paid Leave and Affordable Childcare. No one should have to choose between caring for their loved ones and keeping their job. I’ll fight to establish a national 12-week paid family and medical leave program that allows workers to take time off to welcome a new child, care for a seriously ill loved one, or recover from their own serious illness without sacrificing their economic security. I also believe that access to high-quality, affordable childcare is essential for working families and our economy. I’ll push for creative solutions to unlock greater supply of affordable childcare providers like increasing the au pair time limit to six years and passing the Child Care for Working Families Act to cover start-up and licensing costs associated with new providers. We should also do more to directly subsidize childcare costs for low-income and working families.  These investments aren’t just good for families—they’re good for businesses and our economy by increasing workforce participation and reducing turnover.

Workforce. Not every good job requires a four-year degree, but every good job requires skills and training. I’ll champion investments in workforce development programs that create pathways to good-paying careers, including apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and partnerships between community colleges and employers. I support making community college tuition-free and expanding career and technical education opportunities starting in high school. I’ll also work to ensure that federal training programs are responsive to the needs of our changing economy, including growing sectors like advanced manufacturing, clean energy, healthcare, and technology. Revisiting, expanding, and updating these programs will be a key task for Democrats dealing with the wreckage of important federal programming in the wake of Trump and Musk’s across-the-board ham-handed cuts.
Innovation. America’s technological dominance has driven our economic prosperity, and we cannot sacrifice that leadership — but we must ensure that innovation benefits everyone, not just a privileged few. I support investments in research and development that keep America at the forefront of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and biotechnology. I also support establishing clear rules of the road for blockchain and crypto technologies. I recognize that these powerful technologies must be developed responsibly and consistent with consumer protection laws. I’ll work to modernize regulations that protect consumers, safeguard privacy, prevent discrimination, and ensure competition, particularly in rapidly evolving sectors like AI. Unlike countries like China that use technology for surveillance and control, America must lead with technology that strengthens democracy, expands opportunity, and upholds our values. I’ll fight for policies that foster innovation while ensuring that the benefits are shared broadly and the risks are managed responsibly.

Let's Win This.
