Democratic congressional candidates are putting their kids front and center as they call for generational change

Patrick Roath wants you to know that he’s running for Congress. He also wants you to know he just became a dad.

The Boston attorney, who learned he and his wife wereexpecting his first child just before announcing his candidacy, has already put his identity as a new parent at the center of his bid to unseat US Representative Stephen Lynch. In December, immediately after his daughter was born, Roath laid out a plan to lower the cost of child care — a core message for a campaign pitching solutions for the high cost of living and generational change.
