Reps. Livingstone, Montaño, and Moran, City Councilors Weber and Pepén back Roath in MA-08 Democratic primary
BOSTON – Patrick Roath, Democratic candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 8th District, today announced endorsements from several elected officials representing the city of Boston: Rep. Jay Livingstone (8th Suffolk), Rep. Samantha Montaño (15th Suffolk), Rep. John Moran (9th Suffolk), Boston District 5 City Councilor Enrique Pepén, and Boston District 6 City Councilor Ben Weber.
“I’m honored to have the support of these exceptional public servants representing my home community,” said Roath. “Reps. Livingstone, Montaño, and Moran, and Councilors Weber and Pepén show up every day for their constituents and fight for the issues that matter to Boston families. That’s the kind of leadership I want to bring to Congress.”
Rep. Montaño, who has served in the State House since 2023, offered a pointed contrast with the incumbent.
“I’ve lived in this district for years and served as a state representative for four years, and I have never once met Congressman Lynch or heard from his office,” said Rep. Montaño. “That tells you everything you need to know about his approach to this job. Patrick Roath is the opposite. He shows up. He listens. That’s what representation is supposed to look like, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse him. He is ready to go down to Washington and stand up for our communities and our values.”
“I’m supporting Patrick Roath because he is the active and engaged leader we need and deserve in the 8th Congressional District,” said Rep. Livingstone. “He has a strong record of accomplishment and will deliver for all the communities in our district.”
“When I think particularly about the challenges that young families and seniors in the Polish Triangle and other parts of the district face, I know that Patrick will get up and fight for them every single day. He will lead with compassion and purpose, and deliver tangible results,” said Rep. Moran.
“I am proud to support Patrick Roath for U.S. Congress. He’s been showing up across this district, listening to people, and building real relationships. He will be a strong next generation voice for our communities in Washington,” said Councilor Pepén, whose district includes the neighborhood of Roslindale. “Congressman Lynch has not been present in my district. Patrick is the better choice.”
“I am happy to announce my support for Patrick Roath for Congress.” said Councilor Weber. “As the District 6 City Councilor, I know that folks in Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury deserve a representative in D.C. who is going to show up in our community. Patrick not only lives here, but throughout his campaign, he has shown that he is the only candidate for this seat who is willing and able to meet us where we are and take on the challenges and issues my neighbors and I care most about.”
The endorsements add to Roath’s growing coalition of supporters. The campaign has now been endorsed by more than 30 local elected officials, grassroots advocacy groups across the district, the Boston Teachers Union, AFT Massachusetts, former Governor Deval Patrick, and David Hogg’s candidate recruitment group Leaders We Deserve.
Roath has raised over $1 million from individual donors while refusing all corporate PAC money. The Democratic primary for Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional District is September 1, 2026.
